Small Hive Beetles
This page is under construction but will feature information pertaining to the small hive beatle
You may notice the larvae stage of the Small Hive Beatle first.   When you see this stage, much damage has already been done.
The Small Hive Beatle is small.   If you are not looking for them, at first you may not notice them.   They are not really a problem for a strong well populated hive because the bees will take them out before they do their damage.   If you have a weak or unhealthy hive, the beatle can take over and ruin all the honey by eating, defecating in and spoiling it.   They also raise their young in the hive.   The larvae stage is smaller than the Wax moth and much more tough.   You can roll the wax moth larvae between your fingers and squish it, but this is almost impossible with the Small Hive Beatle larvae.
