One key to fighting wax moths is to keep your hive strong. A strong hive will naturally take care of any wax moth invasion.
Wax moths will destroy your valuable comb and the wood of your frames and supers as well. They prefer the wax that brood has been raised in over honey supers.
When you take drawn brood foundation off of a hive, you can protect it by freezing it then placing it in a sealed garbage bag to kill any moth presence and preventing a new invasion. When you are ready to use the drawn brood comb, it will be ready without any moth surprises.
Some beekeepers use paramoth crystals to keep moths out of the wax, but this chemical is believed to have links to cancer and can be harbored in the wax. If you do treat your comb for wax moths, DO NOT use moth balls. Only use the Paramoth crystals.
This page is under construction but will feature information about wax moths.
